About The Team

In 1999 the Broadlands community created a community swim team and joined the Herndon Swim League. By the second year word had spread and the swim team had grown in popularity. Due to the tremendous growth in Loudoun County, the Broadlands Piranhas joined together with other teams to create a developmental swim league so as to promote the sport of swimming.

The overall Broadlands Piranha swim team records were originally kept on the team website for the Broadlands Piranhas. In 2006, when a second swim team (CSL) was formed the records for each swim team were kept separately. An ODSL record board and an CSL record board were placed at each team's pool. All the while the both teams were responsible for updating the overall "Broadlands" swim records on the joint website being used by both teams.

When ODSL and CSL moved to new websites in 2011/12, the overall records were not placed within the new team unify site of either team. Over the past two years ODSL and CSL have worked to separate our operations and we are now just ODSL Broadlands Piranhas and there is not a need for two sets of ODSL Piranha records. CSL has their records since the beginning of the CSL league team. Now all of the ODSL Piranha Swimmers are under one record board (1999-2014). This coincides with what the ODSL league has in their database which dates back to the start of ODSL in 2004.

As a result, the records that are going to be placed at the Southern Walk pool have been updated to include all of the ODSL Piranha swimmers since our first season. We will also be including the year each record was obtained next to each swimmers name. This will give even more credence to the standings that swimmer has as the years pass.

Currently ODSL Piranhas has over 200 swimmers and continues to be a leading force in the league each summer as we have been since we helped in it's creation.
